ARCHITECTURE
Natural History Museum Designed by Perkins+Will, natural elements are obvious throughout the design of this 44,500sq m space (top image). Its overall shape is inspired by the nautilus shell and a central “cell wall” reflects the cellular structure of plants and animals. snhm.org.cn
Shanghai Tower Completed in September 2015, this 632m super-tall skyscraper (pictured below) is China’s highest, and encompasses office, retail and leisure space, as well as a luxury hotel and conference centre. Designed by Gensler, the tower is actually made up of nine cylindrical buildings stacked on top of one another.
