Alex Mecker, Senior Industrial Designer at Weber, highlights the innovative design, materials and processes that have created the all-new SmokeFire Wood Fired Pellet Grill STEALTH Edition.
As Weber celebrate their 70th anniversary in 2022, this is the perfect opportunity to further expand the choice for their customers, which they have achieved with the creation of the aesthetically beautiful, high performing all-in-one barbecuing experience.
Design and performance have always been guiding principles of Weber’s product innovations, and they always start with the customer. They aim to understand customers objectives, expectations, and experiences, and then try to differentiate their offer in styling or experience terms so that they chime with identified elements.

Weber take creative inspiration from a number of sources and are heavily influenced by the automotive sector. Their products, like cars, need to operate effectively outdoors in different weather conditions, as well as be visually attractive.
Weber have tried to add depth and richness through different material selection for the STEALTH Edition. Indoor appliances that are black stainless get a spray gloss coating, but Weber’s products live outside, and the grill must withstand hundreds of degrees of temperatures.
As a result, the company has had to constantly innovate to find ways to apply the colourways as they strive to create a unique aesthetic that cannot be replicated.

The wood pellets are compressed wood particles, sourced from sustainably managed forests. As well as creating a renewable energy source for cooking food, the main benefit is the wood pellet flavour – something you cannot match.
It offers a unique taste, and different flavours can also be used to impart different characters whilst the food is being cooked. It is like adding a smoky flavour or a special seasoning that you cannot get in any other way, other than smoking.
