Renowned for their use of colour and pattern and vibrant interior style, design duo Russell Whitehead and Jordan Cluroe, aka 2LG Studio, have opted for an all-white palette for their most recent collaboration with bedlinen company Tielle. Embracing a soft hue that emphasises the luxurious tactility of the material itself, the designers say its subtlety reflects a wider creative shift. ‘Design has always responded to the challenges of the time,’ says Whitehead, ‘and context is everything. We are living in very uncertain times, and we can respond to this by quietly making safe spaces for ourselves.’
Embracing the power of white, the Moiré collection adds a serenity to the bedroom with the duo paying close attention to materiality. ‘In the absence of colour, we focus on the way the material feels and its delicate texture,’ explains Cluroe. ‘The moiré adds a subtle, but unmistakeable quality to the bedroom, elevating your lived experience.’

Meaning ‘to water’ and derived from a verb that means ‘to produce a watered textile by weaving or pressing’, the term moiré references the ripple effect seen across the surface of the fabric. Traditionally applied to silk, Tielle have partnered with a cotton mill in Italy translating this heritage technique onto a 100% cotton textile. The result is a soft and tactile bedlinen that organically responds to the light within a space giving it visual depth and movement. ‘It is slightly more matt than the moiré silk we all know,’ reveals Whitehead. ‘However, the subtle sheen feels more chic for a bed setting, but it still maintains the classic movement of the fabric. We also paid attention to the scale; it had to be right. We wanted it big enough to draw you in but small enough so that when you are in bed you really get a sense of the design.’

The partnership came about after the couple stayed at The Langham in London, experiencing Tielle’s hotel-grade bedlinen for themselves. While the quiet luxury of products resonated with them, it was the heritage and experience behind the brand that cemented the relationship. ‘There was an instant human connection with the team at Tielle and, once we dug into the quality and heritage of the product, we felt like the right thing was to deliver something we would want our clients to have in their homes long-term,’ says Cluroe. ‘Not every layer in a home needs to be loud. Sometimes quiet quality is all you need.’
With Tradelinens, Tielle’s parent company, supplying bedding, bath linen and tableware to some of the world’s most prestigious hotels, this is allowing homeowners to inject that elevated sense of luxury into their own homes. ‘We hope people feel transported when using the bedlinen, as if they’ve stepped into a personal retreat,’ comments Catherine Morris, Managing Director of Tielle. ‘This is about hotel-quality experiences at home, bringing the ritual and pleasure of five-star bedding into daily life.’ With the moiré pattern handcrafted by weaving and cutting experts, each item remains unique. ‘The collection invites rest, deep sleep and a sense of wellbeing, a kind of quiet escapism when the outside world feels uncertain,’ she continues.

Speaking of working with 2LG studio, Morris says the duo have helped to offer a fresh lens through which to express the timeless quality of the brand. ‘Their approach allowed us to highlight the textures of the finest Italian bedlinen, showing that white can be as expressive as any palette,’ she says, ‘and working with them has been energising and genuinely fun. They bought a designer’s curiosity, a sharp eye for detail and a passion for quality that aligns beautifully with our own values. It pushed us to rethink without steeping away from what’s at the heart of our brand.’
Paying attention to details such as bedlinen can elevate our everyday rituals, with the collaboration emphasising the impact such changes can have on each day. ‘Small changes in our daily lives make big ripples in the rest of our life,’ says Whitehead. With its understated allure bringing an elegant touch to a multitude of interior schemes, the duo reaffirms how it reflects their own creative disposition. ‘We are really digging into our own internal world right now, avoiding external validation and trying to focus in on our lived experience,’ he concludes. ‘We’ve reached a stage where we feel comfortable in our own skin. It’s been hard won. But we are less interested in branding and more interested in the quality of the product.’ And, as the collection displays, it is this calm sophistication that feels more apt as we strive towards homes that cocoon us away from an uncertain world outside.
Available as a limited edition in double, king and super king, the 2LG x Tielle bedlinen collection can be found here.
