AIMMP – The Portuguese Association of Wood and Furniture Industries, founded in 1957, is a leading entity in the promotion and development of a strategic sector for the Portuguese economy. With a mission to represent, defend and support companies in the wood and furniture sector, this association has contributed to improving national competitiveness in increasingly challenging markets.
The results of its activity is significant, namely doubling the sector’s exports, reflecting the companies’ capacity for innovation and adaptation to global demands. This growth is driven by a commitment to sustainability, the valorisation of forests, the promotion of talent and the integration of concepts, decarbonisation and the circular economy.

Internationalisation: a strategic priority
Internationalisation is at the heart of AIMMP’s strategy, with structured actions to expand the reach of Portuguese companies in high-potential markets. This effort is being implemented through the Inter Wood & Furniture program, which has promoted more than 140 actions in around 32 international markets, supporting more than 400 companies.
14 Portuguese companies were present at the BDNY 2024 – Boutique Design New York exhibition, held on the 10th&11th November at the Javits Centre in New York. This event, recognised as one of the world’s leading platforms for the interiors and contract segment, highlighted Portuguese interior design to a demanding and specialised audience.
BDNY 2024: a stage for Portuguese excellence
With the support of AIMMP, brands such as A.Freitas & Barbosa, CMcadeiras, Compincar, Freixotel, MBN Group, More Contract, MS – Designed to Last, MyFace, Sofli, Toronobre, Wonatti Luxury Craftsmanship, X8 Solutions Group and Ziya Concept presented innovative, sustainable and high-quality solutions in New York, receiving great visibility. The collections presented not only demonstrated sophisticated and functional design, but also adaptation to the demands of the North American market, one of the most competitive and demanding in the world.

In addition to participating in BDNY, the Portuguese delegation organised a B2B meeting at the Greater New York Chamber of Commerce, an event that provided national companies with a unique opportunity to establish strategic contacts, create partnerships and explore new business possibilities.

With a robust program, Inter Wood & Furniture foresees the participation of Portuguese companies in several international fairs for next year, in addition to initiatives that aim to consolidate its presence in traditional markets and explore new destinations with high growth potential.
