Ukrainian studio and workshop PANOPTIKUM Collections teamed up with designer Valery Kuznetsov on the launch of BUGS, a playful storage cabinet that promises to make a decorative statement wherever it is placed.
The brainchild of Andrii Rudenko and Boris Pylypenko, who both share a passion for craftsmanship, and traditional as well as new materials, the brand encourages collaboration and experimentation. Their designs often juxtapose contrasting elements and objects.
For their latest creative collaboration with designer Valery Kuznetsov, the Ukrainian brand brings an element of movement, texture and fun to storage cabinets with a bold polka dot, beetle-inspired design.

‘It’s all about balance,’ say the founders. ‘With the BUGS cabinet, the designer aims to show how the appearance and ornamentation of an object can challenge its practical nature. Kuznetsov sees this piece as an image of an insect.’
The pattern, which mimics that of a beetle’s back, was achieved using Ukrainian pyrography, an age-old artform, which involves burning pictures into wood, leaving behind decorative patterns or striking images.
The result is a quirky piece that celebrates craftsmanship and sparks creativity. Promising to inject charm and personality into spaces, BUGS champions craft and creativity in a digital age.
