A pea is all that’s misssing from Anglo-Indian duo Doshi Levien’s Pincipessa daybed for Moroso, inspired by the Hans Christian Anderson fairytale of the Princess and the Pea. Launched in Milan this year along with My Beautiful Backside (icon 060), photos of the piece have only just been released. The 11 mattresses are covered in variously patterned fabrics, and the top mattress is hand embroidered with items that a modern-day princess might use, such as a hairdryer, sunglasses and an umbrella – a combination of “utility and glamour,” says Nipa Doshi. The top three matteresses are loose and can be thrown onto the floor for unexpected guests or to practise yoga on.
