The French designer will open the 20th edition of the event in Earls Court this September, as well as launching a new collection of ceramic tiles International designer Philippe Starck will open 100% Design this September, to coincide with the unveiling of Flexible Architecture (pictured below), his new ceramic tile collection for Ceramica Sant’Agostino, which will be displayed at the event in Earls Court. Philippe Starck’s Flexible Architecture tile collection for Ceramica Sant’Agostino With Flexible Architecture, the joints of the tiles – usually thought of as something to hide or eliminate – become a decorative element. “I discovered I can exaggerate the joint and enhance it on one side, on two sides, on four sides in order to create an innovative architectonic subject,” Starck says. “It’s the beginning of an infinite potential, of new creativity to serve architecture and architects.” 100% Design 2014 will see a meeting of leading names in the design and creative industry – from Heal’s and Vitra, to Jaime Hayon, Ross Lovegrove, El Ultimo Grito and Nina Tolstrup. This special edition, celebrating 100% Design’s 20th year, will mark the show’s last appearance at Earls Court before it moves to Olympia London in 2015. To mark the occasion, 100% Design 2014 will also present a range of celebratory events – from an integrated timeline around the central bar designed by Studio Design UK, to a curated exhibition, entitled Design Kaleidoscope, showcasing 20 iconic design products launched at 100% Design over the years. Starck’s Flexible Architecture will be on show at Capitol Designer Studio’s stand (E600) at 100% Design, from 17 to 20 September 2014. |
