Stockholm furniture fair – taking place every February – is one of the year’s chilliest design events. It’s good to see Scandinavian manufacturers continuing to use the fair to launch products, especially as the tasteful minimalism lining the fairground’s halls wouldn’t even get noticed in showy Milan. The fringe scene is small, but this year some of the younger design practices such as Folkform and Form Us With Love broke away from the fairground to set up their own shows in town. Both the Stockholm furniture fair and the fringe event were marketed under the banner Stockholm Design Week, signifying the start of a more inclusive event. Here are some of the best things we saw.
