Hida Sangyo introduces the KISARAGI chair, made with durable steam-compressed cedar wood. In Japan, cedar trees are seen as undesirable for furniture because of their prominent knots, while the soft surface of the wood is prone to dents and scratches. Hida Sangyo is the first company to use the durable, straight-grain compressed cedar. Designed by Motomi Kawakami, the KISARAGI chair is not stained; instead the cedar wood develops a deeper colour when compressed. Visit Hida Sangyo at the Milan Furniture Fair in Hall 6, stand E24-26.
