In September 2014, The View from the Shard and Icon held an event called London As I See It, designed to provoke debate about the issues facing the capital today and what the future might hold – on the 69th floor of Renzo Piano's skyscraper in London Bridge.

It was chaired by former RIBA president Angela Brady and took the form of three talks – by Liza Fior, founder of Muf Architects; Leo Hollis, author of Cities Are Good for You; and Roma Agrawal, structural engineer of the Shard.

Here is a recording of Agarwal's talk, in which she discussed the role of tall building in tackling London's problems.

Why can't we build a skyscraper in 14 days? Register to attend UK Construction Week for a debate on the issue
