Tent London, Woking’s Lightbox gallery and arts charity the Art Fund have announced a £100,000 competition to design a pavilion for the 2009 London Design Festival.
The winning pavilion will sit alongside Marks Barfield Architects’ Lightbox, which was featured in icon 053. Entries will be judged by a panel including Wayne Hemingway and Architecture Foundation director Sarah Ichioka.
In an unusual twist, Tent London has proposed that the pavilion be fabricated digitally. With help from engineering firm Facit, the pavilions components will be cut by a computer-controlled cutter and assembled on site.
Pavilion designs, in CAD, should be submitted to Tent London at the website below before 3 March 2009.
