Libby Sellers opened the exhibition Beau Sauvage at the Liberty Gallery last night, with new commissions by Daniel Brown, Jens Fager, Max Lamb, Peter Marigold and others.
The exhibition explores how the raw qualities in contemporary limited-edition design can give rise to a new type of beauty. Peter Marigold’s untreated wooden Yield screen or Max Lamb’s Flat Iron chair, roughly folded out of sheet metal, are both cases in point. It was also interesting to see the return of Dan Brown, with an interactive mirror, and young Swedish designer Jens Fager’s premiere in the UK.
