"A sketchbook," Pep Carrió has said, "is like a kind of portable laboratory ... a memory warehouse." In 2007 the Spanish artist and graphic designer set himself the challenge of creating a different image each day. His Moleskine diary soon became "an essential companion" and his drawings and collages – doodled, he explains, "during telephone calls, at work, on the bus, at home, in a hotel, without a fixed idea or style" – present a daily inventory of his moods and thoughts. In this laboratory of ideas he has "the freedom to experiment," he says, "with no fear of failure ... Anything goes."
