The extension to London’s Tate Modern opens to the public this Friday (17 June), increasing the size of the contemporary art gallery by 60%. Switch House, designed by Swiss architecture practice Herzog & de Meuron – which was also responsible for the original conversion of the Bankside Power Station in 2000 – is a major addition to London’s cultural landscape.

Icon asked architect Jacques Herzog about the Tate Modern extension in this interview earlier this year
