Our art desk has selected its three favourite entries to Icon’s photography competition – Workspace – and one lucky winner of a bag of HAY stationary The entries to our “Workspace” themed photography competition, linked to our Studios issue, ranged from desks and workshops to a cookery school and the inside of a cockpit. Here are our three favourite images. The winner: Emma McNiven This dreamy image captured our imaginations. “We chose this image because it looked like a good spot to generate ideas,” Icon designer Simon Kühn says. “Plus we think it would look great with some HAY products.” Second place: Jim Sulak “We liked this one because it’s an unconventional workspace, a workshop — extra points for the fact they appear to be making surfaces for people to work on.” Third place: Justin Bramwell “A nicely styled photograph – clever use of perforated board and excellent positioning of the succulent plant.” Congratulations to all three and in particular to Emma McNiven, who will receive a bag of HAY stationary and two issues of Icon magazine. Thanks to HAY for the prizes and to all those who participated – you can see some of the other entries by using the hashtag #iconphoto on Instagram and Twitter. Our next photo competition is themed “pattern”, referencing curator Klara Czerniewska’s essay in our new issue, out now, about the Polish design scene and its renewed interest in pattern. Stay tuned for details! |
