An exhibition at the Barbican presents photographs that captured seminal moments in 20th and 21st-century architecture Eighteen photographers, including Andreas Gursky, Charles and Ray Eames, Bernd and Hilla Becher and Julius Shulman, captured seminal moments in 20th and 21st-century architecture. From Le Corbusier’s town-planning masterwork Chandigarh, shot by cinematographer Lucien Hervé, to Berenice’s Abbott’s documentation of the rise of the New York skyscraper, and Bas Princen’s survey of the Middle East’s urban transformation, Constructing Worlds considers architecture as the photographer’s favourite muse. Above are some of the works on display. Constructing Worlds runs at the Barbican until 11 January 2015 |
