Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power

This exhibition shines a light on the contribution of black artists to a dramatic period in American art and history, starting from 1963, at the height of the US civil rights movement. It asks how the concept of ‘black art’ was promoted, contested and sometimes rejected by the artistic establishment.
