How Should We Live? Propositions for the Modern Interior

How Should We Live? explores the collaborations, materials and processes that shaped the modern interior between the 1920s and 50s, with a particular focus on major women architects and designers. Rather than isolated masterworks, attention is given to the synthesis of elements within specific environments and the external forces – aesthetic, social, technological and political – these reflect. The exhibition looks at several designers’ own living spaces and at neglected areas of design such as textiles, wallpapers and promotional displays.
