Black Mountain: An Interdisciplinary Experiment 1933–1957

Alma mater of some of the most important post-war artists and designers of the 20th century, the short-lived Black Mountain College in North Carolina has achieved mythological status. The college’s cultural impact far outweighed its tenure, trialling a radically progressive form of arts education and establishing performance as the key artistic concern of the period. The first comprehensive exhibition in Germany devoted to the institution, this show includes works by both tutors such as Anni Albers and Richard Buckminster Fuller, and a number of students, including Robert Rauschenberg and Cy Twombly.
