Virtual Control: Security and the Urban Imagination

British photographer Max Colson uses fictional scenarios to explore issues relating to the control of urban space. In his latest exhibition, hosted at the RIBA, Colson investigates the worrying trend towards the privatisation of the public realm. The images on display depict how carefully camouflaged surveillance technology is used to monitor these areas and, potentially, to manipulate behaviour. Other parts of the exhibition look at how these spaces are marketed, presenting an idealised version of urban environments.
