Jeff Wall

Canadian artist Jeff Wall takes photography beyond a documentary context and into the realm of art. He is known for carefully constructing tableaux that have a cinematic or stage-like quality – most famously A Sudden Gust of Wind (1993), Insomnia (1994) and Invisible Man (1999–2000) based on the prologue to Ralph Ellison's 1952 novel. Wall began working in the 1970s, but this show focuses on more recent projects, showing 35 pieces from 1996 to the present.
