How Things Don’t Work – The Dreamspace of Victor Papanek

Design critic Victor Papanek's 1977 book How Things Don't Work was an early and powerful plea for more socially and ecologically responsible design. Placing excerpts from the text alongside speculative works by contemporary designers, this exhibition argues that Papanek's ideas are more relevant than ever. A fragmented "dreamspace" is created using video, print and digitised slides, as the viewer is challenged to reconsider both Papanek's legacy and our relationship with design in the "dystopian present".
