Disobedient Objects

Taking objects as symbols and tools of social and political change, Disobedient Objects presents the remnants of demonstration. Handcrafted placards, woven banners and blockades produced by activist makers sit alongside works by artists and designers. Among more unusual items on show are the gorilla masks worn by feminist artists Guerilla Girls, and an inflatable general assembly by architecture collective 123Occupy devised as a meeting place for protestors. Maker’s statements accompany displays, as well as video footage and press clipping showing the objects in action.
