Chasing Time

Time is one of the essential elements for designating winners and losers in sport – this exhibition aims to capture the enthusiasm that this measure elicits, considering how time is measured and how athletes experience and manage it during a competition, through painting, philosophy, sculpture, music and cinema. Designed by architect Lorenzo Greppi, the route through the exhibition is organised around nine themes that illustrate the changes in our perception of time through history. Works on display include chronophotographic images by Étienne-Jules Marey, a tribute to Roger Bannister’s world record by Mel Brimfield and a sculpture by Michelangelo Pistoletto. A schedule of talks and concerts supports the exhibition.
