Andrew Wyeth: Looking Out, Looking In

The donation of Wind from the Sea (1947), Andrew Wyeth’s first painting on the theme of windows, has prompted the National Gallery of Art to present a selection of tempura paintings, watercolours and drawings exploring the realist painter’s fascination with the subject. The grouping together of initial sketches, developmental watercolours and the final piece will bring fresh insight into Wyeth’s creative process. The exhibition includes several specially acquired works that have never before been on public view.
