Projections: Cinema Hysteria

Over three Monday evening sessions, Mary Wild will deliver a course of psychoanalytic film interpretation, examining the central role that hysteria plays within films such as Wim Wenders’ Wings of Desire and Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan. Questions regarding female identity and femininity will be investigated “via the unconscious connection between the body and language”. Cinema Hysteria is part of Wild’s Projections series, which, earlier in the year, offered Freud-based interpretations of Roman Polanski’s Apartment Trilogy, Pier Paolo Pasolini’s Theorem and Lars von Trier’s Dogville.
