Lee Broom’s new London bar interior nods to seedy Soho with a curious mix of postmodern marble, Alpine cabin and 1970s retro In a city full of restaurants with exposed brick walls and reclaimed lighting, it’s good to see an interior brave enough to be something less than tasteful. Lee Broom’s interior for Old Tom & English in London’s Soho has a gaudy red carpet running through it, uniting a lounge, a bar and cosy dining enclaves. With a capacity of 65, the space is small, but that hasn’t stopped Broom going large with his own designs – marble lighting from his Nouveau Rebel range – and retro finds from flea markets. Wood-panelled walls and a huge marble fireplace give the place an Alpine cabin feel, while the play of elemental circles, arcs and lines is unmistakably postmodern.
