Icon at CDW 2012: the highlights 07.06.12

This year's Clerkenwell Design Week was a resounding success and Icon was proud partner of this year's festivities. If you didn't see us out and about, catch a glimpse of all our activities here.

The festival opening was celebrated with an exclusive premiere screening of 'Eames: The Architect and the Painter'. Icon hosted a cinematic evening with beer and popcorn at Vitra's Clerkenwell showroom and invited 10 lucky readers to enjoy the one-off event too.

On the Thursday evening, Christopher Turner, Icon's editor, hosted a Pecha Kucha event at the Farmiloe Building. All Icon's readers were invited to come along and hear the exciting line up of speakers give their rapid-fire presentations, and you certainly turned out in force -- making this CDW special one of the best attended Pecha Kucha evenings we've witnessed .

Icon took great pleasure in popping up and providing visitors with some experimental popcorn to set their taste buds alight whist they made the most of the glorious sunny evening. The menu ranged from the luxurious Ambergris and Vanilla Sugar, (truffle from the belly of a whale with notes of Chanel perfume) to Browned Bread and Brandy and Smokey Bacon, courtesy of The Robin Collective. Weird yet wonderful!

Like most visitors to the festival, we didn't want it to end. Going out on a high, Icon were delighted to collaborate with Poltrona Frau in their stunning London showroom to host one of the festival's most stylish and busiest closing parties. Party goers left into the night truly enamoured with Clerkenwell and, like us, looking forward to 2013 already.
