Milan: Estd by Established & Sons 22.04.10

Butt stools in moulded plastic

The British furniture brand that made its name by working with some very big-name designers launched a collection of anonymous products at the Milan furniture fair.

The Estd collection by Established & Sons contains smaller and less expensive pieces, meant to complement the firm's signature range. It is a collection of pared-down products that has a Muji-esque feel, but with a bit more flourish and colour.

The Niche waste bin for example consist of two triangular metal bins held together by magnets. It fits neatly in a corner and makes separating waste for recycling easier.

The Butt stool in moulded plastic, which looks a little like a continuation of Castiglioni's Mezzadro stool made from a tractor seat, is a sturdy seat and is also stackable.

The tabletop pieces in ceramic, like the Dip series and the Store jars, are versatile and pleasant to the touch and can serve in a number of different ways, from fruit bowls to pen holders.

Although the pieces are designed by the Established&Sons roster of designers, there is no mention of their names anywhere and the designers themselves have been asked to keep schtum about their creations. However, it's almost possible to guess who has done what, as the aesthetic of practices like Front and Industrial Facility shines through very clearly.

We haven't got the full set of images of the collection yet, but more will follow.
