Crudo tableware collection 10.02.10

Crudo is a tableware collection created by five friends. "It all started at a table in Robin's Munich apartment where we gathered around eating and talking about the culture of raw, simple and good food," says German designer Martin Meier.

For the five designers – Barbara Busatta, Dario Buzzini, Robin Bigio, Martin Meier and Olivero Zanon, who met while working at design consultancy IDEO – the motivation was to find an expression for raw food culture in the tableware that serves it.

The result is a collection of glass and ceramic containers in quite crude shapes and simple finishes, completed only once the food is presented on it. Crudo, which means "raw", consist of four separate sets that slot together to create intriguing tabletop sculptures when not in use. The collection contains plates, bowls, a ceramic jug and glasses.

Crudo is now in production with Italian manufacturer Atipico and was showcased at the Maison & Objet fair in Paris earlier this month.
