The hygienic, energy efficient new hand dryer from Dyson is also its quietest ever


The major new development in the newest hand dryer launch from Dyson is the news that the Dyson Airblade 9kJ is the brand's quietest ever Airblade™. The result of over three years' development and more than 700 prototypes, the Airblade 9kJ dries hands in 10 seconds, and also uses up to 87% less energy than warm air dryers in Eco mode, while creating up to 85% lower carbon dioxide emissions per use than paper towels.

As with any Dyson product, the key is in the detail and the combination of hardware and software. The Dyson Airblade 9kJ hand dryer’s robust design and stainless steel body is built to last and has been rigorously tested to withstand real-life washroom conditions. It also features a range of specialist Dyson technology, designed especially for effective hand drying.

A Curved Blade™ design

The Dyson Airblade 9kJ is powered by the Dyson digital motor V4, which spins at up to 75 000rpm. Sheets of air flow up to 388mph through two 0.45mm curved apertures that follow the contours of your hands, removing water quickly. The powerful motor shifts 23 litres of air per second, allowing the Dyson Airblade 9kJ hand dryer to dry your hands in 10 seconds.

The Dyson Airblade 9kJ hand dryer uses 9.1 kilojoules of energy per dry, meaning it costs just £19 a year to run in Eco mode.

The machine also uses ‘time of flight’ sensors that accurately detect hands to activate air.

A hygienic HEPA filtration with a fleece-lined glass fibre HEPA filter captures 99.95% of bacteria-sized particles from the washroom air, ensuring the air dries hands and keeps them clean.

Perhaps most significantly, the Dyson Airblade 9kJ is the quietest Dyson Airblade™ hand dryer yet, featuring silencers made from open-cell foam and perforated discs, reducing noise as airflow passes through the motor.

To achieve the reduction in noise, Dyson also re-designed the airflow paths through the machine, making them more direct and therefore reducing sound output.

The motor housing of the Dyson digital motor V4 regulates airflow paths through the motor, reducing noisy turbulence. The motor is mounted on silicon rubber to further reduce noise, and the specially designed open-cell foam silencers absorb vibrations from air entering and exiting the motor.
