At Milan Design Week 2019, UniFor will be celebrating its 50th anniversary through a series of installations curated by Ron Gilad. The multimedia presentation will take place in the Palazzo of Brera, home to the Academy of Fine Arts and the Pinacoteca di Brera.

Gilad has linked UniFor’s industrial culture with the art history and educational values of one of Italy's oldest and most prestigious art schools, aiming to 'highlight the values of its legacy,' he said.

UniFor started in 1969 and grew rapidly in the 1970s in Turate, Como, when Angelo Mangiarotti designed a model for the factory that offered a strict system of quality control, something the firm has remained known for.

In its 50-year history, UniFor has collaborated with a huge range of the biggest names in architecture and design, including Foster + Partners, Jean Nouvel, Renzo Piano and Aldo Rossi. Some of the works created have become iconic in their own right, including the Parigi chair, designed by Rossi in 1989.

As well as the installation in the Palazzo of Brera, there will be an exhibition of highlights from UniFor's past and present in the company's historical showroom at Corso Matteotti 14. The firm is also releasing a book tracing its history edited by Fulvio Irace, with graphics by Pierluigi Cerri, and published by Skira.
