Group of industry figures will ride from London to Birmingham to raise money for the Construction Youth Trust

Chairman of New London Architecture and keen long distance cyclist Peter Murray will lead a charity bike ride from London to UK Construction Week in Birmingham in aid of the Construction Youth Trust (CYT).

Last year, Peter and his construction peloton raised nearly £10,000 for CYT, and the aim is to double that figure in 2017. The CYT works with young people seeking a career in the construction industry, helping them gain access to work placements, apprenticeships, and employment.

Other riders in the team include architect Chris Dyson, HS2 Design Panel chair Sadie Morgan, president elect of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists Alex Naraian, Nigel Ostime of Hawkins Brown and chair of the RIBA's client liaison group, Rob Price and Martin Walsh from Perkins and Will, Sam Baxter from Tsunami Axis, Ben Cousins of Cousins & Cousins, and Timo Haedrich of Haptic Architects.

Murray said; ‘We’ll do the ride at a steady pace, riding 90 miles on Monday, 9 October and the rest on Tuesday morning. We’ll make an early start so that we arrive at Birmingham’s NEC in time for the opening ceremony. We will also be promoting the work of the Construction Industry Cycling Commission and all it is doing to ensure that a culture of road safety is embedded across the industry.’
