The final version of the designer's sofa for Moroso, launching at Milan Furniture Fair this month, has smooth lines and a soft, plump shape

Ron Arad is on fine experimental form with his final version of the Glider sofa. Where the 2013 seat was boxier with more defined armrests, the latest iteration has smoother, rounder lines and a soft, plump shape.

At the main show, Glider will be shown upholstered in Blur, a gradient textile by Atelier Oi and Dutch company Febrik, which changes from red to purple across the sofa's bulk. Concentric circles mark one end, giving the impression that the piece has been sculpted from a giant psychedelic Yule log. Moroso will also debut pieces by Martino Gamper, Nendo, David Adjaye, Patricia Urquiola, Tokujin Yoshioka, Ross Lovegrove and Daniel Libeskind.

Milan Furniture Fair, 14-19 April 2015: Fairgrounds at Rho and via Pontaccio 8/10. A full review of the Salone del Mobile will appear in Icon's July issue. Our June issue, available from Friday, features an interview with David Adjaye.

At Clerkenwell Design Week last year, Icon interviewed Ron Arad about his approach to work and a competition to redesign his legendary Tom Vac chair for Vitra. Watch the video below or by clicking on this link
