The design practice has launched a series of lights for Swedish brand Zero at Stockholm Furniture Fair

Note Design Studio has launched a series of lamps in colours that reflect the Scandinavian mountains at Stockholm Furniture Fair today (3 February).

The Elements lights, for Swedish brand Zero, are covered in Kvadrat's Time 300 fabric, in muted colours that reflect the Stockholm-based designers' surroundings – the tones created by the low light of the Nordic winter.

"When we started designing this series, our thoughts went to the relationship we have with light and nature here in the Nordic countries – dawn, dusk, midnight sun, glittering lakes, wilderness and flora," says Kristoffer Fagerström, co-founder of the interdisciplinary design studio. "When we think of light, it is not a strong light – it is a soft and gentle light, contrasting with the long, dark winter nights."

The monochrome lamps come in floor, table, pendant and wall-mounted versions, but all have the same shape. Two simple, tapered elements – one larger than the other – fit into one another, with metal frame and support structure in the same colour as each lamp's fabric.

"The series is intended as a design tool for interior architects to realise their visions," Kristoffer Fagerström. "We work a lot with spatial and interior architecture and with that experience we know how important it is to have tools to work with."
