The event celebrates its 20th edition with a "design kaleidoscope", featuring exhibitors from Argentina to Kuwait, a roster of star speakers and a guest appearance from Philippe Starck

In 1995, 100% Design was launched in a tent just off the King's Road in west London. Nineteen years on, it is the largest and longest-running contemporary design event in the UK, filling Earl's Court and attracting many of the leading names in the design and creative industry – from Heal's and Vitra to emerging brands such as Masam and Lozi.

To celebrate the show's 20th edition, a specially commissioned exhibition will take centre stage, displaying a series of the exceptional pieces that have been launched at 100% Design over the years. These include the Spun Chair by Thomas Heatherwick, the Wingback Chair by James UK and the Cullen Dish Wall Light from Mullan Lighting.

The show, which will be opened by guest of honour Philippe Starck, is taking place at Earl's Court for the last time before transferring to London Olympia next year. The organisers have divided the venue's vast 20,000sq ft floor into four coherent sections, each focusing on a different sector of the design industry – Interiors, Workplace, Kitchen and Bathrooms, and Eco Design and Build. The international pavilions will include contributions from Argentina, Estonia, Lithuania, Pakistan, Venice, Kuwait, France, Shenzhen, Genoa and New York.

This year's theme, reflecting the diversity and rich history of the show, is "design kaleidoscope", which will inform both the four sections of the event and the talks programme. Speakers include a host of famous names, such as Jaime Hayon, Ross Lovegrove and Nina Tolstrup. The stage will be designed by El Ultimo Grito.
