The Danish company has collaborated with All the Way to Paris, Sami Kallio and Studio Vit on a set of elemental rugs, lighting and furniture
Since launching as Unique Copenhagen in 2010, young Danish brand &Tradition has struggled to find its identity, re-issuing Verner Panton classics alongside launches such as Jaime Hayon's cartoon-like Catch chair (2012).
Now the brand seems to have found its feet, with a new showroom on Copenhagen's Paper Island and a set of launches that bring a contemporary twist to Nordic heritage.
Another Rug by All the Way to Paris (ATWTP)
The Copenhagen-based graphic design studio based the motif for Another Rug on an "endless stair", with linear woven sections marked in gradient colours. The rugs are woven using a kilim technique and are made from a New Zealand wool and cotton mix. The rugs come in three sizes and four earthy colours: Yellow Amber, Red Volcano, Green Jade and Blue Thunder.
In Between Table by Sami Kallio
Finnish designer Sami Kallio follows up his In Between Chair (2013) with a dining table in solid oak. The table's legs are turned on a lathe and fall at slight angles from the circular top. Like the chair, In Between Table has curves and nuances that nod to Danish modernism in its heyday.
Marble Light by Studio Vit
Studio Vit does a ruthless job of reducing function down to essence. The Marble Light family of five pendants are versions of the same lamp in different proportions. In each case, a mouth-blown bulb in thin borosilicate glass emerges from a sculpted cylinder of solid Italian marble. A sixth design sees the bulb hanging from a 4m white silicone cord, counterbalanced by a marble floor weight.
