Architecture firm’s iAlter, inspired by the theme “serendipity”, aims to highlight the multi-disciplinary and social nature of the contemporary workplace Architecture practice NBBJ will present iAlter at 100% Design next month – an installation that highlights the multi-disciplinary, dynamic and social nature of the contemporary workplace. The digitally-designed installation, inspired by the theme “serendipity”, reflects the fusing of hospitality and office spaces – a trend that is increasingly informing workplace design. “Inspired by the simplicity of kinetic sculpture and the complexity of our design algorithms, we wanted to create a space that gently encourages serendipitous encounters,” NBBJ principal David Lewis says. The piece by NBBJ – an international architecture and design practice that works for companies such as Google, Amazon and Samsung – will be situated in the 100% Workplace hub at September’s show. This will act as a networking and social space during the events. iAlter will influence the area around it, creating a variety of experiences for those using the hub’s social facilities and bar. Each industry section at 100% Design will feature a prominent installation such as this. Others include Maker Carousel by Mette, an interactive piece that celebrates the world of the maker; and Foam Dome by vPPR Architects in association with Turkishceramics, a pavilion made from bubble foam for the kitchen and bathroom hub. 100% Design will run from 17 to 20 September at Earls Court in London |
