The Spanish designer is celebrating Le Corbusier’s legacy at Milan Furniture Fair next month with a set of characterful wooden objects for Cassina Fifty years after the death of Le Corbusier, Jaime Hayon is celebrating his architectural legacy with a collection for Cassina. Réaction Poétique is a set of characterful wooden objects – four table centrepieces, a tray and two side tables – inspired by the organic shapes at play in the architect’s painting for Pavilion L’Esprit Nouveau (1925) and later buildings such as the famed chapel at Ronchamp (1954). Each object is made in solid ash and stained black. “I wanted to create useful objects with sculptural elements, interplaying forms, light and shadow,” said Hayon. “It was a challenge to use only one material and one finish. I feel this restriction actually became an opportunity to showcase the beauty of the wood.” In addition, the Cassina showroom in the Brera district will have a presentation dedicated to another commemoration, the 50th anniversary of the LC collection by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand.
