Grayson Perry and Charles Holland of FAT have completed a house in Essex for Alain de Botton’s Living Architecture. The flamboyant structure, described as “gypsy John Soane”, was inspired by the stacked forms of Norwegian stave churches.

The facade is covered in green and white ceramic tiles of Perry’s own design, designed to celebrate the rich life of a fictional Essex girl called Julie
