The designers of the highly-anticipated King’s Cross Pond Club will be speaking at Icon’s House of Culture during Clerkenwell Design Week Sylvain Hartenberg and Eva Pfannes – together Ooze Architects – are the designers of “Of Soil and Water“, the highly-anticipated outdoor swimming pond that popped up in the middle of the vast King’s Cross Central building site last month, a work created in conjunction with artist Marjetica Potrč. Part art installation, part leisure project, the 40m x 10m pool of naturally filtered water allows swimmers an unusual perspective on a rapidly changing part of London and taps into the rising interest in urban swimming in the UK and elsewhere in Europe. The Rotterdam-based architects’ work teeters between art and architecture and draws on their expertise in ecology, technology and social dynamics. In this talk at the House of Culture, Icon magazine’s venue in the grand Old Sessions House on Clerkenwell Green, during Clerkenwell Design Week, they will discuss the King’s Cross project – which will feature in the next issue of Icon – their previous work, their approach to placemaking and the drive behind efforts to more deeply embed nature into the urban environment. Ooze Architects will be speaking at Icon’s House of Culture in Clerkenwell at 1pm on 19 May.
