French designer Philippe Starck has revealed his latest project: a 14-storey Hilton hotel in Metz, topped with a replica of a folksy turn-of- the-century mansion.
The jack-of-all-trades designer called the project ‘poetic’ and ‘phantasmagoric’. Icon reckons he’d have been better off with ‘fatuous’.
And this building-on-a-building idea is hardly original: FAT did the same in Middlesbrough in 2013.
If only he’d stuck to juicers.
