Milan: Moustache, a new French brand 06.05.09

words Johanna Agerman

Despite the economic climate there were a few new start-ups showing in Milan this year. Moustache was one of them - a new French home furnishings brand that manufactures products by Big-Game, Matali Crasset and Inga Sempé.

The first Moustache collection, which showed in an exhibition space on Via Tortona, is made up of 11 products, mostly produced in France, ranging from seating to room dividers and coat hooks. Just like the name of the company, the first collection is playful and a little whimsical. Sempé's Vapeur lamp resembles a chef's hat, Big-Game's Bold chair a giant pipe cleaner bent into shape, while Crasset's Xtra Room is overtly simplified - a wooden structure that you hang a duvet-like fabric from, creating a space within the space with childlike simplicity.

Moustache was founded by Stéphanie Arriubegé and Massimiliano Ioro, and is the natural extension of their first venture together, Domestic, produces wallstickers by a host of well-known designers, that showed around the corner in Zona Tortona.
