Hussein Chalayan and Martino Gamper are among the seven category winners selected from a 100 strong international shortlist for the Brit Insurance Designs of the Year award.
The seven categories were architecture, fashion, furniture, graphics, interactive, product and transport and the designs are currently on show at the Design Museum, London.
Herzog & de Meuron was selected from 11 architects including SANAA and Thomas Heatherwick as the architecture category winner for the National Stadium in Beijing.
Yves Béhar won the product category for the One Laptop per Child computer, ahead of other designers such as Jonathan Ive, Jasper Morrison and Ross Lovegrove.
Antonio Citterio, Rolf Fehlbaum, Alison Moloney, Lars Müller and Daniel Weil will judge the final seven and the overall winner will be announced on 18 March at the awards dinner, hosted by Wayne Hemingway.
Brit Insurance Designs of the Year runs until April 27 at the Design Museum
