Icon is just back from New York, where we took a long walk along the High Line. The park, designed by landscape architect James Corner Field Operations and architect Diller, Scofidio + Renfro, opened last week along a former elevated goods railway built in the 1930s.
We've been looking forward to the High Line opening for years, so it was good to be there when Mayor Bloomberg cut the ribbon last week. The park runs for nine blocks between the Meatpacking District and Chelsea, passing through several buildings along 10th Avenue and stopping abruptly at 20th Street. Phase two, which landscapes another ten blocks' worth, opens next year.
