The Prickly Pair chairs, designed by Valentina Gonzalez Wohlers, combine the distinctive formal and aesthetic values of the Mexican and European figurative traditions, resulting in a piece of furniture in which both cultures are identified. The chairs are a combination of a classical French oval chair and Sergio Leone’s spaghetti westerns. The cactus and nopales are, for Mexicans, a represention of meaningful sights of daily life and the most beloved icons in their culture. The Prickly Pair chairs are frivolous and humorous with shapes, materials, colours, textures and finishes that collide in playful harmony. |
