In 1941, Danish entrepreneur, Villum Kann Rasmussen founded VELUX. With the aim of bringing daylight, fresh air and a better quality of life to all of our homes and workplaces, the VELUX vision remains the same ever since their first roof window was installed in a Danish school, more than 70 years ago. VELUX Modular Skylights are an innovative way of introducing daylight and fresh air into commercial buildings, developed in cooperation with Foster + Partners. Although modern construction tends to favour standard components instead of one-off, on-site solutions, contemporary skylight systems still tend to incorporate a complicated process, involving all kinds of different craftsmen, suppliers and interfaces. In 2007, VELUX joined forces with Foster + Partners to develop a skylight system which is 100% modular, making it easy to specify, highly adaptable and comprehensive in detail. VELUX Modular Skylights are factory produced to a range of standard sizes, which can be combined in unlimited combinations for complete design flexibility. The installation method allows the same standard units to be installed in a variety of configurations including longlights, ridgelights and atria. The pultruded composite framing material and low-energy glazing also offers thermal performance, which is among the very best on the skylight market. As one of the world's leading design events, 100% Design has been chosen for the official UK launch of VELUX Modular Skylights. Furthermore, Stephan Verkuijlen, associate partner at Foster + Partners and Brent Moller of VELUX, will introduce the design of the product and explore their co-creation at 16:00 on Friday 21st September, in the main auditorium. Afterwards, Stephan and Brent will be available at a 'Meet the Designers' drinks reception from 17:30, where they'll be happy to discuss specific projects or general product queries. VELUX Modular Skylights will also be displayed at the exhibition, so please visit stand E211 to talk to one of our specifications support team. |
