Icon Experiment: Studio Glithero

Studio Glithero, co-founded by Sarah Van Gameren and Tim Simpson, exhibited an installation at icon experiment derived from their Big Dipper project; a ceiling-mounted machine rotated and repeatedly dipped wicks into pools of wax, gradually forming 20 wax candles. Icon Experiment: Ted Noten

Ted Noten has created a mini funfair with his Mr Claw machine at icon experiment. Mr Claw has a 1kg silver bar that you can try and grab, but if you don’t manage there are consolation prizes designed by Noten. Icon Experiment: Stuart Haygarth

Yesterday at the icon experiment Stuart Haygarth installed a chandelier made out of 1024 pairs of spectacles. This film clip shows the way the spectacles refract the light, creating a stunning dappled effect, whilst Haygarth explains the concept behind the piece.

Christiaan Postma’s Clock

Christiaan Postma’s Clock uses more than 150 moving hands to spell out the hours of the day. It was launched in at Spazio Rosana Orlandi in Milan, and was one of the most memorable objects of the fair. Still photos don’t do it justice – you have to watch the animation to see the numbers emerge from chaos, and then dissolve again as the hour passes.
